West, who also ran for America’s top job in 2020, famously endorsed Trump by wearing one of the former leader’s red “Make America Great Again” caps during a 2018 sitdown.

“They tried to scare me to not wear this hat,” West said. But, he added, “This hat, it gives me power in a way.”

West also praised Trump’s “dragon energy” on social media.

“You don’t have to agree with Trump, but the mob can’t make me not love him. We are both dragon energy. He is my brother,” West wrote.

“You made a Superman cape for me,” he told Trump.

The pair also appeared together in December 2016 after Trump was elected U.S. president.

“Life. We discussed life,” West said following the meeting.

While many in Hollywood criticized West for backing the controversial leader, in a recent interview with journalist Bari Weiss on the Honestly with Bari Weiss podcast, Kardashian spoke about West’s decision to don the red MAGA hat.

“Looking back I thought, ‘Why should he take that [MAGA hat] off if that’s what he believes in? Why can’t he wear that on TV?” Kardashian, 41, asked. “Half of the country voted for [Trump] so clearly other people like him also.”

The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star also railed against cancel culture.

“If I worried about every last thing that someone said and I had to try to change it, then I would never be me. Anyone wouldn’t be them.”

Kardashian conceded that the public reaction to West’s embrace of the MAGA movement made her uneasy about her own public perception in the leadup to his appearance on Saturday Night Live .

“I was very nervous,” she said. “I didn’t want him to wear the red hat on SNL … that night, I was very forceful with him and arguing with him about, you know, ‘You have to take that hat off.’”

But the socialite said she learned a lot from the experience.

“It taught me to be a little bit more empathetic for people that just want to do what they want to do, and freedom of speech — and if you want to wear the hat, wear the hat.”

Last month, West revealed that his wife “did not like me wearing the red hat” in a now-deleted post on Instagram.

“Good Lord, my wife did not like me wearing the red hat. Being a good wife, (Kim) wanted to protect me and our family,” he wrote . “I made me and our family a target by not aligning with Hollywood’s political stance and that was hard for our marriage.

“Then I ran for president without proper preparation and no allies on either side. I embarrassed my wife in the way that I presented information about our family during the one and only, thank God, press conference.”

Earlier this week, Kardashian, who filed for divorce from the rapper in February , announced she passed California’s First-Year Law Students’ Examination, clearing the first hurdle in her bid to become a lawyer.

“OMFGGGG I PASSED THE BABY BAR EXAM!!!!” she wrote to her 70.7 million Twitter followers.

Kardashian, whose father Robert Kardashian was on O.J. Simpson’s defence team during his 1995 murder trial, has previously said that she wants to become a lawyer to work on criminal justice reform.
