Chrissy Teigen has come under fire for hosting a Squid Game-themed bash.
The model and Chrissy’s Court host threw the bash, based on the hit South Korean Netflix series, at her home with singer John Legend, featuring a maze staircase, bunk beds and a light-up pig filled with money, along with other elements from the TV show.
Pals including Shay Mitchell and Jesse Tyler Ferguson joined in the festivities, with Chrissy hailing the gathering as an “absolutely epic night” and writing: “My dream came true of watching my friends fight to the death!”
However, fans were less than impressed as they called out the irony of the wealthy couple theming their party on a show in which debt-ridden individuals play a deadly game to win money while a small group of “VIPs” watch for their enjoyment.
“This is so beyond tone deaf as a millionaire to invite your rich friends over and reenact Squid Games, which is rooted in the violence of capitalism,” wrote one fan.
Others insisted Chrissy had “missed the point of the show” and claimed “there’s something super f***ed up and weird about spending the weekend cosplaying Squid Game with your incredibly rich friends.”
Another fired: “chrissy teigen is probably the dumbest b**ch alive this is the most tone def s**t i’ve ever seen in my life. (sic)”
It comes after Chrissy faced bullying accusations from model Courtney Stodden earlier this year (21), who claimed the star used to message her to tell her to take her own life. She has since apologized for her comments.
