The star took to Instagram to celebrate wrapping his latest movie Spirited, co-starring Will Ferrell and Octavia Spencer, and confirmed plans to take a break from work.

“That’s a wrap for me on Spirited,” he penned alongside a snap of himself and Will. “Not sure I’d have been ready to say yes to a film this challenging even three years ago.

“Singing, dancing and playing in the sandbox with Will Ferrell made a whole lotta dreams come true. And this is my second film with the great @octaviaspencer…”

He continued: “Perfect time for a little sabbatical from movie making. I’m gonna miss every second working with this obscenely gifted group of creators and artists.

“These days, kindness matters as much as talent. I’ve been lucky to work with folks who are flush with both.”

Taking to the comments, Blake hilariously reacted to Ryan’s post while referring to recent reports movie veteran Michael Caine is set to retire, simply penning: “Michael Caine did it first.”

Meanwhile, his co-star Octavia was quick to heap praise on the Free Guy actor, writing: “You’re an amazing actor/singer and producer. I had a blast working with you, Will, and this outstanding cast and crew! Enjoy your downtime.”

It was widely reported that Caine was calling time on his acting career after telling BBC Radio 5 Live’s Kermode and Mayo’s Film Review he’s “not an actor” anymore.

However, he was quick to clarify his comments on social media, insisting: “I haven’t retired and not a lot of people know that.”
